Synopsis

Durrell Washington and Lee John Jackson, two down on their luck fools, decide to rob a church so they can get enough money so Lee John can pay off some Jamaicans and Durrell can give his son's mother enough cash so she can open up her own hair shop locally and not take their boy thousands a miles a way to live. But, darn it if the plan gets all fouled up when some one else steals the church money before they can.

Review

Where do I begin? This movie left much to be desired. I did laugh at some parts, but I was more irritated than I belted out with laughter. Writer/Director, David E. Talbert under utilized a good cast he was blessed with. Funny men Katt Williams (Friday), the Choir Director, Ricky and Tracy Morgan (NBC 30 Rock), the thief Lee John are truly naturally comical. Their delivery of some one liners had me chuckling. But, everyone else... Chi McBride, Pastor Mitchell (Boston Public) is a great actor, but was given nothing by the writer. What about Lorretta Devine (This Chritmas)? She was a straight up back seat actress in this flick. This woman can act and sing superbly, and she was given D rated material. The script lacked so much substance, but yet it got produced and hit the big screen, so who am I to truly rip? Well, I can be reel. And reel Marla is saying DO NOT waste your duckets. Throw it in your queue with Netflix or check it out On Demand. I am glad the movie was short and didn't waste too much of my time. I just wish that brothas and sistas would demand more for an all black cast. I am so busy talking about what a lack luster script it is, I haven't even explained a little bit about it.

I understand when your money is funny, you may think of some less than desirable ways of trying to make some, but to rob a church—A CHURCH—that is just ridiculous. Durrell Washington (Ice Cube, Friday, Are We There Yet & Barbershop) has some issues. He has a record and finds it very difficult to get a job. He is a father who loves his son with every fiber of his being and is devastated when his son's mother Omunique (Regina Hall, Scary Movie & The Honeymooners) lets him know what the deal is. He doesn't have any money and she is trying to make a better life for she and her son. I can't knock someone who has goals and this woman definitely does. Problem is, Durrell and his son do not want her to leave and the only way she could stay is if she can come up with $17,000 + to open up her own hair shop. Durrell's best friend Lee John comes up with a half baked idea to steal the money from a local church. Just WRONG!!!!!! It's even worse when they go to rob the church, someone else beats them to it.
