Sam Worthington (Perseus), the man must have a great agent because he's getting some major blockbuster gigs and his acting is so boring. Homey has no range. I feel nothing from him when he acts. He's like lukewarm water bottled up sitting on a grocery store shelf. Sam needs a kick. He's just boring and I don't understand it. He has all the equipment and so far a great portfolio (Avatar, Terminator Salvation, Clash of the Titans) of films. But he's dancing off beat.
Anyhoo, Let me quit talking about that man and get on with the review for Clash of the Titans. It's a remake of the 1981 film of the same name and the film is loosely based upon the Greek myth of Perseus. Now this motion picture was of course converted to 3D. I'm sure 10 million other movies this year will be too after the great success Avatar had. I chose to see Clash in 2D. You all know I hate that dark tint that the 3D glasses lace the films with.
Nevertheless, there's a definitive fight for supremacy that pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war among the gods themselves could demolish the world. Born of a god, but raised as a man by a loving family, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is unable to help save his family from the Hades (Ralph Fiennes, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), the merciless god of the underworld.

With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to head a dangerous mission into the forbidden worlds to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson, Taken) and unleashes hell on Earth. Perseus' true way to survive and save mankind from the evil demons and formidable creatures is if he can put his pride aside and accept his power as the god he is. Perseus better come on and acknowledge that authority.
The film is perfect for a teenybopper. Heck, I was a tad bit bored with the dialogue, acting, and just over-all film. Please don't think with all my negative comments that there wasn't anything good about the film, because there were some highlights and decent scenes. There were indeed some great action-filled scenes especially with Medusa (Natalia Vodianova), the gorgon who is half snake and human. And all the creatures in the flick were amazing and creepy looking.
A lot goes on in this film such as the strange mythological creatures that are simply grotesque, and really great sound effects. Heck, the featured trailer makes the film look like there is nothing but fierce action. I can look at the trailer several times.
Clash could have been great with better acting, less cheese on the lines, tighter dialogue and leading man. Sorry Sam. I know I'm tough on you, but I think about Brad Pitt in Troy, Russel Crowe in Gladiator and Gerard Butler in 300 -- "THIS IS SPARTA!" Now you feel me? Get in their lane and just bring it.
Liam Neeson is my boy. Did you see him in Taken? Well, he had a major throw away part in Clash. When Zeus comes on stage in a full zilver and bright shiny suit, I swear it felt like we were back in 1981. Zeus left much to be desired. But I love his line..."Release the Kraken" I can hear him say that over and over. And the Kraken is an unsightly monster. Yuck!
Clash was visually tantalizing and worth a watch on the big screen. Just be prepared for some corny 1981 acting, one-liners and just straight up corny dialogue.
