Review

This is one of the bloodiest, goriest, strangest movies I’ve seen in a while. YUUUCK! I really don’t even want to write this review because I’ll have to think about it. EEEK! So, this is going to be a mini review. And you all know, I don't write mini reviews. Don't get upset though. I’ll still provide information to give you the minutiae.

As far as vampire movies go, the premise is really good and the execution of it is fine too. I just feel that this is a film, I didn’t have to see and I likes me some vampire movies and TV shows. Maybe there are way too many now or this one didn’t do it for me. I'm still trying to figure it out. I'll let you know when I do.

Daybreakers is set in the year 2019 and there is some kind of pandemic in the world (once again). This time it’s humans that are being turned into vampires or killed and humans are becoming more extinct as their blood is used for breakfast, lunch and dinner by these vamps. Edward (Ethan Hawke, Training Day) is a hematologist whose main focus and job is to come up with an alternative food source for human blood. While he tries, blood supply is becoming very scarce and the vampires are becoming very desperate which cause some of them to feed on themselves and other vampires. That’s so nasty and wrong. Edward better hurry on up so humans and vampires can be spared an awful demise.

Ethan Hawke is fine in the film. He does what his part is called for. Plus we know the man has skills. So, I wasn’t worried about that. Oh, and Willem Dafoe (Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant) is in this flick and I tell you he plays one tough sun of a biscuit eater. He is funny and just on it. His character's name is Elvis.

I really disliked the score. The music sounded like some old –time black and white Dracula movie or something. I’m serious and it's super loud. I was thinking “Come on now turn it down!” It's creepy and annoying.

Daybreakers isn’t a bad film, it’s just bloody as heck and just one I could have waited for DVD. If you are one of the die hard vampire fans and love blood, guts, action and violence, go and see it. You won't be disappointed and have some popcorn for me.
