Spoofing to the highest degree is what Disaster Movie is all about. I could have waited until it came out on HBO because it’s not like I was really missing a fabulous movie. Disaster is totally useless if you haven’t seen all the recent movies that have come out or at least the trailers. Oh, and if you don’t know anything about Pop culture…forget it. This flick will be a waste of your precious time. The title is perfect because it fits what a disastrous mess of a movie this thing is.

Disaster Movie is in the ritual of the other films like Scary Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans. This film follows a group of young adults solving a series of mysteries to end widespread destruction while trying to make their way to safety with every natural disaster come barreling their way. This straight up ‘spoof’ film stars Carmen Electra (Dennis Rodman’s ex boo, all the Movies) and Kim Kardashaian (Reggie Bush’s boo).

About Kim Kardashaian’s performance—it’s ooookay. I guess it really doesn’t matter, it’s not like this movie is going to be nominated for any awards except for the Razzies. The wardrobe crew made sure to put Kim in a tight fitting shirt with a non-existent neck line. Her ”girls” looked like two big melons. I’m sure teenage boys will love it. They’ll also love the wrestling match between Kim and Carmen. They were throwing each other around like the old gals from the G.L.O.W – Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Woopdi-doo.

Some of the scenes were just ridiculous and a total waste of time. A spoof of Amy Winehouse (Nicole Parker, Meet the Spartans) looking like a straight up HOT MESSNESS and her burping for about a minute had me wanting to run out of the theater. Other scenes have your typical landing in poop or getting it all over your face…yuck. Also, there are rude references to being gay or homophobic. I'm not spoiling here, because these movies being spoofed are in the trailer. There's a visit from the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Hancock, and a host of others. Actually, the Hulk in this film looks better than the one in the actual Hulk movie.

The character Juney, the pregnant chick (Crista Flanagan, Meet the Spartans) was so annoying my insides were crying SHUT UP! The character Calvin (Gary “G.Thang” Johnson, TV shows) added the most flavor with his dance moves, funny one-liners and his chemistry he had with the entire cast. I find that there’s always that one actor who has that quality to just mesh with an entire cast.

Disaster Movie is a disaster mess. It was just a pinch better than what I thought it would be after seeing the HORRIBLE opening, but it’s still not saying much. Yes, I’m guilty of chuckling a few times because I figured I was going to be spending 90 minutes of my time I should try to laugh. Plus, it tightens the abdominal muscles. I’m sticking with catching a movie like this on HBO or even the USA station. I don’t understand why these stupid movies keep getting made. Are they that profitable? This can never compare to the legendary Scary Movie with the Wayan brothers. Come on now. Writer/Directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer need to just stop these ‘Movies’ right now.
