Review

For a comedy, I think I Love You, Man could have been a little shorter. There were scenes that were way too long and the jokey-jokes were stretched out beyond their funny limits and they didn’t need to be. Paul Rudd (Role Models) is cute and a very good actor, but he just doesn’t have that natural funny oomph the guys like Seth Rogen or Steve Carrel have. Now I don’t want to have anyone get it twisted, he was perfect for this role and did a great job.

This film tells the story of Peter Klaven (Rudd) who didn’t develop any male friendships because he spent all of his life with his lady loves. Now the time has come where he is getting married to his lady love Zooey (Rashida Jones, The Office) and he needs a best man and some groomsmen. He decides to go out on a search for a male buddy and possible best man.

Man is a good movie with a somewhat believable premise. There are men who seriously have no main male friends. They enjoy the company of women. They’re not gay, but just truly enjoy talking about things women usually like. Or, they just enjoy spending all of their time with a special lady not leaving any time to build solid male relationships. That’s nice and all, but get a little variety in your life.

Rasheeda Jones is darling. I hope to see her in more films however, she may be more of a sitcom actress since she’s been on The Office and Parks and Recreation. Hey, do you remember her on the show Boston Public. Whatever happened to that show? I use to watch it all the time and the next thing I know they just up and took it off of FOX. Darnnn! Always taking my shows off. Oh, and I was so upset when I found out that Third Watch was going off the air. That was another prime-time show that I invested a lot of time into watching.

Anyhoo, There were really funny characters in Man such as Lou Ferrigno (he's the original Hulk from way back when). Peter’s main man Sydney Fife (Jason Segel, Knocked Up) was perfect for his role too. He was funny, a little charming in his own goofy way and he had great chemistry with the entire cast. And for me, chemistry is important.

Man, is amusing with a really good and believable story. I think young guys will really like the bromance and male camaraderie that comes with this film. There are so many reality TV shows now out there that show it. Check it out if you are fan of this cast and need a good laugh.
