Watch the TrailerThis film has some corny humor, excessive chatter and a surely thick script. I was bored from time to time, but kind of still enjoyed the movie. I enjoyed it more in the second hour I suppose. The movie was a tad bit long for my taste. Take out a good 20 minutes of a bunch of jibber-jabber and I would have been good to go.
Sherlock Holmes is based on an old famous fictional character of the same name written by Authur Conan Doyle. His famous characters Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr., The Soloist) and his trusted colleague Dr. John Watson (Jude Law, Rage) are out to stop the devious Lord Henry Blackwood (Mark Strong, Body of Lies) from taking over the world with his trickery and black magic. Holmes and Watson are never done with their unique crime-fighting/case-solving and strong detective work.
This film definitely has a Guy Ritchie (Rocknrolla) feel to it for sure. He always sticks to having characters that are very distinct and I’m not talking about the main two in this picture. The special effects were of great quality and the set was very dismal and gritty… perfect fit for this kind of story that’s set back in 1891 London.
The Sherlock character is so quirky, witty and quite athletic and Downey plays him so well. He’s so darn talented. He’s such a superior actor. He had the accent nailed down. I’m sure there will be a sequel. Heck, I’m looking forward to seeing him in Iron Man 2. There's a certain swagger about him that's quite charming. I adore him.

And why every time I see Mark Strong, for a split second I think he’s Andy Garcia? They need to play brothers in a film or something. He was very believable and quite commanding in Sherlock. I like him as an actor. I’d like to see him in more films.
Rachel McAdams (The Time Traveler's Wife) was a waste and had no chemistry with her cast mates. As much as I like her she just didn’t convince me that she was the great femme fatal, Irene Adler, which could outwit the very likes of Sherlock Holmes more than once. Please. And there was NO kind of chemistry. Heck, I was shocked.
The relationship/bond/chemistry between Sherlock and his boy Watson was 10 times stronger than Sherlock and Adler. I think the casting of Law and Downey was definitely on point and a solid choice. There characters had a kind of McNamara/Troy (Nip Tuck) feel to them. They seem to be completely different, but yet compliment each other very well.
