Review

Pixar created a beautiful peace of work. Up is incredible. I’m so impressed. This movie just filled my heart with so much joy. The realness and sweetness of the first 10 minutes of it was like a lovely short film entailing the back-story of the main character’s life. It was so very poignant and memorable. I knew from that endearing montage Up was going to be fantastic.

Even though this film is rated PG and great for kids, it truly moved me. It told a wonderful story about Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner, Christmas Is Here Again) a 78-year-old balloon salesman. He comes to a point in his life where he’s ready for his big adventure and knows nothing is holding him back. He decides to take himself and entire house to the wilds of South America by tying thousands of colorful balloons to his home and flies away. Carl is tickled pink because his plan is working and he's flying high until he hears a knock at the door. You know, Carl is thinking, “Who in the world is knocking at my door?” Well, it’s a positive little boy named Russell who is a Wilderness Explorer. The jive part of it for Carl is that it’s too late for him to turn back with little man.

People, you might be boo-hooing at certain moments. I know I was fighting with every fiber of my being to hold back tears. Kids were cracking up at a lot of the scenes and it was cute to hear their reaction. I was rolling too, many times. You might think a grumpy looking old man, as a main character would be jive or boring, oh, no, no. Carl was a perfect major character. He really had a lot of depth.
This is magnificent for the entire family. Adults won’t feel like they are there just to take the kiddies. They will feel that their ticket is worth every dollar. Up is just so picturesque and charming. My husband and I were munching and crunching on goodies while totally enjoying the magic of each scene. Ahhh Pixar… you’re the best.

Up is worthy of the Reel Marla 5 reels rating. It had excitement, danger, adventure, action, great character arc, sweetness, humor and beautiful colors so pleasing to the eyes just like a rare blue diamond. I’m ready to see this captivating motion picture again.
