The Condemned

I rented The Condemned with WWE “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. My hubby ripped on me so bad. He said “Stone Cold Steve Austin is the lead character?!” I didn’t care because I thought it was a cool premise and the trailer enticed me. I didn’t do a review on it but here’s the scoop.

A wealthy television producer purchases 10 condemned criminals from around the world, one of them being Jack Conrad (Steve Austin), a convicted killer awaiting execution in a Salvadoran prison. The prisoners are taken to an isolated island in the South Pacific where they’re presented with the chance to win their freedom. The key is they must fight each other to the death, with freedom only given to the sole survivor, in a highly illegal blood-sport to be filmed and broadcast live over the Internet. Viewers must pay $49.99 to watch.  And, millions of people pay it.

This film actually has some juice to it. Steve Austin doesn't do a bad job. He isn’t given many lines, but definitely has a lot of fight scenes. The action had me pumped and I actually rooted for a few of the convicts. Of course, Stone Cold’s character was my top choice. His back-story is good enough to make you root for him all the way.

This movie is rated R and definitely has some violence in it. Any more, that’s all that you see even on regular TV programs. Well, my hubby took what he said back when he told me not to rent the movie. The Condemned actually is a good one to rent if you like action and an interesting premise.
